Churches of Genoa

Genoa holds one of Italy’s densest and least-known religious heritages: dozens of historic churches scattered across the old center and surrounding districts, home to painting cycles, altars, sculptures and architecture of great value. Renovatio documented an initial set of six churches linked to the Palazzi dei Rolli circuit, aiming to make them more visible and accessible.

The work combines photographic survey with art-historical research, producing a narrative that spans different eras and styles and brings attention to places often on the margins of the busiest tourist routes, yet central to the city’s artistic and religious history.
