01Commerce as heritage
Genoa’s historic shops are a heritage often overlooked compared to the city’s more famous monuments, yet they hold trades, craft knowledge and a precious urban memory. Renovatio dedicated a project to this fabric of businesses, telling the stories of families and shopkeepers who have animated the streets of the historic center for generations.
The work combined photographic documentation with the gathering of first-hand testimonies, aiming to highlight an intangible heritage made of relationships, commercial traditions and neighborhood identity, often at risk of disappearing along with the transformation of the urban fabric.
