Services for Museums and Cultural Foundations

For Museums and Cultural Foundations

Collections that speak to contemporary audiences. We work with municipal and state museums, cultural foundations and university collections to rethink the museum experience, making it accessible, engaging and able to generate its own resources.

Whether it’s a major state museum, a university collection or a small municipal museum, our approach always puts three things at the centre: visitors, economic sustainability and measurable results. We bring management practices and marketing tools drawn from other sectors into museum organisations, constantly measuring the impact of every initiative.

Our multidisciplinary team brings art historians, directors, photographers, cultural marketing experts and digital developers to every project — the same expertise behind documentaries broadcast on RAI Cultura and articles in Il Giornale dell’Arte.

01Why a museum should work with Renovatio

We translate scientific research into contemporary language without sacrificing its rigour. Our experience with university departments — from the University of Genoa to Sapienza University of Rome — has taught us to build a credible bridge between specialist knowledge and a general audience.

We distribute, not just produce. An established network of relationships with RAI Cultura, RAI News 24 and the leading national and trade newspapers gives the content we produce a visibility that few independent production studios can offer.

We design for sustainability, not for the one-off event. Every initiative — an exhibition, digitisation, a communication campaign — is also assessed for its long-term economic impact: bookshop, ticketing, educational services, membership.

We measure audience development with data, not impressions. We build audience development plans based on real demographic and behavioural analysis, identifying reachable thematic niches and mapping potentially interested audiences who haven’t yet engaged.

02What we offer your museum

Museum communication. We design and produce content to tell the story of spaces and collections: photography, video, immersive content, augmented reality, interactive guides. Each tool is tailored to different distribution needs — broadcast, digital and site-specific.

Collection digitisation. We create digital archives and online access pathways to make the museum accessible anywhere, widening its potential audience well beyond the physical boundaries of the venue.

Content strategy and social media management. We manage and curate the museum’s digital channels with content that generates real engagement, not just view counts.

Press office and media relations. Direct, established relationships with major national media and trade press to cover openings, temporary exhibitions and new displays.

Audience development and accessibility. Designing inclusive pathways, breaking down cognitive and cultural barriers through simplified storytelling, and community engagement to turn citizens into active custodians of shared heritage.

Strategic consulting and fundraising. We support museum management in building sustainable economic models, monitoring available grants and assessing the economic, tourism and social impact generated in the area.

03Case study — IANUA, Genoa in the Middle Ages

IANUA, Genova nel medioevo

The context. The University of Genoa held decades of research on the city’s medieval history, available only in academic form — theses, papers, monographs — and therefore essentially inaccessible to the general public.

The solution. Renovatio was brought in to translate this research into a quality audiovisual narrative: a multi-episode documentary series, produced in close coordination with researchers from the Department of Humanities, with direction and cinematography calibrated to broadcast standards.

The results.

  • Documentary series produced and distributed on RAI Cultura, with a national audience
  • Certified scientific collaboration with the University of Genoa
  • A replicable model for promoting the historical-scientific heritage of other universities and institutions

04Small museums deserve great communication too

We know a small municipal museum doesn’t have the budget of a major state institution. That’s why we calibrate every initiative to the actual spending capacity of the organisation, favouring solutions that generate maximum impact with minimum investment: targeted digitisation, low-cost social campaigns, access to grants dedicated specifically to small museums.
