For Universities and Research
Research deserves an audience. We translate academic research into accessible cultural products, build partnership networks for European and national grants, and produce educational content with scientific and communicative quality.
We support Departments, Centres of Excellence and University Bodies in designing and carrying out Third Mission and public engagement activities. We help academia move beyond specialist language, building solid bridges with citizens, local institutions and businesses — while ensuring the rigorous measurement of cultural impact required by ministerial evaluations.
We offer researchers and university management integrated expertise in scientific communication, European project design, local marketing and multimedia production: the same team that produced the IANUA series with the University of Genoa, distributed on RAI Cultura.
01Why a university should work with Renovatio
We make what research has already developed fundable. We structure operating agreements for European and national projects, handling the design and production side while always leaving full scientific leadership to the university.
We speak both the language of research and the language of media. Our experience translating academic research into broadcast-standard documentaries — distributed on RAI Cultura and covered by Il Giornale dell’Arte — lets us maintain scientific rigour without sacrificing accessibility for a general audience.
We are already part of an active international network. Our operating agreement with Florida International University (Miami, 2025) is available for joint applications, giving partner universities an internationalisation channel that’s already built and tested.
We know how to measure impact for research evaluation. We build KPI matrices to measure the social and cultural impact of Third Mission activities, making reporting easier for research assessment exercises.
02What we offer your university
Partnership agreements. We structure operating agreements for European and national grants and support universities, departments and research centres in developing, managing and monitoring funded projects.
Content and outreach. We translate research into documentaries, exhibitions, apps and digital content accessible to a broad audience, without ever losing scientific rigour. We produce video lectures and MOOC content compliant with academic platform requirements.
Content strategy for research. We manage the digital communication of specific research projects: dedicated websites, social channels, outreach materials tailored to the project’s target audience.
Promoting the university’s historical-scientific heritage. We create virtual exhibitions, open digital archives and augmented reality applications to make academic heritage accessible, often unknown even within the university community itself.
Internationalisation. We support universities in researching and applying for internationalisation grants, offering our network of international academic partners.
Third mission and active citizenship. We co-design science festivals, interactive exhibitions, science cafés and public events that open the university to citizens, developing inclusion and community engagement projects.
03Case study — IANUA, University of Genoa

The context. The Department of Humanities at the University of Genoa held decades of research on Genoa’s medieval history, available only in academic form and therefore difficult to access outside the university.
The solution. Renovatio developed a multi-episode documentary series in close coordination with the Department’s researchers, with broadcast-standard direction and cinematography and a narrative designed for an educated non-specialist audience.
The results.
- Distribution on RAI Cultura, with a national audience
- Certified scientific collaboration, usable in Third Mission activity reporting
- Operating agreement still active with the Department of Humanities
