Project Description
Borghi
Building Opportunities for Rural Growth: Heritage and Innovation. Seven villages of Campania told through a docu-web series: an experimental model for promoting smaller territories through digital communication.
01A heritage to activate
The BORGHI project was created to promote the villages of Campania as privileged sites of preservation, knowledge and social, cultural and economic innovation. Its theoretical framework looks to the Faro Convention and the idea of heritage community: heritage not as an object to protect, but as a relationship to activate between people and places.
The method rests on five pillars: research and territorial study, territorial marketing, promotion through the uniqueness of each village, the enhancement of cultural heritage, and the training of new professional figures able to bring together cultural heritage, audiovisual production and digital writing.
The result is a story told through five keywords — devotion, bonds, safekeeping, production, the horse — built through site visits, surveys and interviews with communities, confraternities, producers and administrations, and filmed with professional drones and cinematic-style camera systems.

«Not simple promotional tools, but interpretive devices able to translate into images the relationship between people and places, and to reconstruct, through faces, voices, gestures and landscapes, the web of meanings that defines a heritage community.»

04The journey
The work began with a survey of digital consumption that guided the formats and the selection of the villages. Site visits and historical-archival research in the territories followed, along with defining the uniqueness of each village, production with aerial footage, and social distribution with an editorial calendar and data monitoring. The process trained a group of young hybrid professionals, working across cultural heritage and communication.
